The movie shows the life of the Nair family who resides in Kumbazha in the Pathanamthitta district. The family consists of a single mother Usha (acted by Bindu Panicker) and her three kids named Manu (Sharafudheen), Meera (Rajisha Vijayan), and Malu (Meenakshi Warrier). The family enjoys their upper caste status and follows the customs & traditions of the society. Manu works as a government employee and is in love with a beautiful girl named Shalabha.
Well, Shalabha is the daughter of Indrasena Kurup who is the president of a caste-based organization. To impress Shalabha, Manu joined the organization as the secretary of the local wing and began working amazingly. Also, he is working hard to get his sister married before him as per customs. The crux of the story is that Manu’s sister Meera is in love with a man from a different caste and the story is based on how will Manu deals with this situation.
